At the time of this recording five fines Amplitank SC1 USB audio interface was 54.99 US Dollars inside the box of Course you get the SC1 audio interface a Neatly branded USBC to USB a cable and Of course documentation build quality Wise at this price point it's pretty Much what you expect very lightweight Plastic device top knobs are sturdy However the headphone knob has a good Deal of wobble in it the push buttons Seem to have good resistance when Pressed and make an audible click when You press them On the specs front the device spans the Full range of human hearing 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz has a dynamic range of 80 DB in the documentation it has a listed Gain range of greater than 45 DB while It has a sample rate of up to 48 Kilohertz it is just 16 bit on the front Of the device you have the combo XLR Quarter inch Jack you have a 48 volts Phantom power button that illuminates Green when on you have a microphone Slash instrument button you press in for Microphone you leave it out for guitar Or instrument next to that you have the Quarter inch instrument Port then a Quarter inch headphone jack headphone Gain knob and then a direct monitor push Button on the top of the device you have A gain knob for the microphone input you Also have a gain knob for the instrument

Or secondary mic Port both knobs have an Illuminated ring around them that go Green for moderate level orange for Close to distorting and red when Distorting and lastly on the top you Have an output gain knob on the back of The device you have left and right Quarter inch outputs a Kensington lock And a USBC Port when you plug into Either a Mac or a PC The driver is automatically installed Both of my PCS recognize the device Instantly and when I would go into the Options it would show the device's name A new test I've added two audio Interface reviews is can they drive high Impedance headphones Let's test now I'm On my costs Pro 4 AAA headphones they're 250 ohms monitoring wise I can sort of Hear myself back just a little bit not As loud as I would want to because I am One of those weird people that wants to Hear my own voice back while I'm Recording I can hear myself but it's Much more faint than when I have my In-ear monitors on which are low Impedance of course and then when I play A YouTube video I can hear it just fine But I have all settings maxed out so if It was music it probably wouldn't be the Greatest listening experience but I Wouldn't expect any more from a budget Audio interface back on my sure in-ear Monitors and I can hear myself back much
Much clearer there is no latency that I Can discern anyway when I'm monitoring Myself back Channel member probably can Tell that since I'm on a condenser mic The five fine K669c that there's probably going to be An issue driving harder to drive Microphones first let's switch to five Finds dynamic microphone the k669 D and We'll test that and then you know it's Coming the Shure sm7b back on the five Fine K669 D microphone and we're in business The gain is almost maxed out but I'm Getting really good signals with this Microphone I knew it was a little bit Easier to drive so I wanted to start out With this one let's sweeten the pot and Switch to the sure sm7b I'm on the Shure Sm7b and here's how it sounds while I'm Not reaching the exact level I was I am Closer than I anticipated to be honest With you I thought it'd be a lot lot Lower but it's just a little bit lower Than it was on the previous microphone Earlier on the condenser microphone I Was about at the halfway mark or just Before it on the five fine k669 D I was At about nine out of 10 with the Shure Sm7b I'm at 10 maxed out and it is much Better than I anticipated I'm not gonna Lie to you I thought that it would be a Lot lower given the specs in the manual But it does say greater than 45 DB so
We've heard 45 DB before on my channel When I use some of the other budget Audio interfaces in my collection Peaking around negative 15 negative 13ish in that range but I'm gonna switch Off the sm7b for the remainder of the Video now it's time to dig into my pros And cons of the fifine SC1 USB audio Interface some of the pros that I will Granted is build quality aside I like The design I like the illuminated ring Around the gain knobs I think that's a Really nice touch as well as the Illuminated button for 48 volts phantom Power another Pro is zero latency Monitoring I'm not hearing that crazy Echo back in my head like I have on Other budget audio interfaces another Thing I appreciate is the use of quarter Inch output and quarter inch headphone Jack I do appreciate that because then I'm not scrambling around looking for Adapters and shockingly enough the Performance it has been pretty good Obviously every microphone preamp ramps Up with noise when you go 10 out of 10 But I think the performance is much Better than I anticipated by the specs Another Pro on the bottom of the device They have a really big footprint of Rubber feet and because the device is so Light it should have a tendency to slide More than it does but with those really Big rubber feet it's doing a good job of
Hugging my desk and I'm not having to Worry about it coming with me when I Make any sudden moves that provide Tension on either the mic cable or the Headphone cable and even though I'm not A huge fan of the all plastic build I do Like the consistency in the stepping on The knobs both gain knobs and the output Knob have a really smooth rotation on The cons front the wobbly headphone knob Has a lot of give to it another con is It's only capable of 16 bit in 2023 I Feel like we should all be at 24 bit or Higher regardless of price point I think Enough companies have proven that you Could put out a 24-bit low budget audio Interface and it just won't disrupt Someone one's workflow if they do Everything in 24 bit another Pro is what I didn't realize about the USBC to usb-a Is you can pop the USB a off and you Have another USBC so they give you both In one cable overall for me it's a mixed Bag I think it performs well enough However the 16 bit is a deal breaker for Me personally when there are other Options in this price range that are 24 Bit I think this lands somewhere in that Um2 and the m audio M-Track solo I'd be Lying if I said that I wasn't just a Little bit disappointed just because They've set the bar so high with their Condenser microphone the k669c and their Dynamic microphone the
K669d at just 37 a piece the bar has Been set so high that my expectations Were very high for the audio interface While I think it performs well I'm just Not blown away by it so as I said I'd Clump it into that group of audio Interfaces that would also have the Behringer um2 and the M-Track solo by m Audio it's a solid interface for the Price but it just doesn't wow me please Subscribe to the channel and check out My free monthly gear newsletter channel Members get the exclusive video version Of that monthly newsletter stay tuned For more reviews coming up very soon Thank you
