BUDGET Microphone For Podcasting – Maono PD100 Review

Hank here with my review of the mayono Pd-100 currently I'm on the meono pd-100 And the road Caster Duo later in this Video I'll switch to a different audio Interface at the time of this recording The microphone is running 44.99 US Dollars inside the box of Course you get the microphone you get a Desk stand with extender and a roughly Six and a half foot XLR cable I did want To mention that meona was kind enough to Send this microphone over but they have No say in the review in my opinion is my Opinion build wise the mayono pd100 has An all metal body construction a half Yoke with tightening knob paired with The included extender and base the half Yoke doubles as a desk stand the end of The half yoke comes threaded with both 3 8 inch and 5 8 inch The Grille is Extremely durable I couldn't get it to Budge at all and they say they have an Inner double layer pop filter to help Mitigate plosives the microphone is Dynamic cardioid XLR only with a Frequency response of 60 hertz to 14 Kilohertz let's run it through a few Tests shall we first we'll do the Plosive test from six inches away Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers From approximately three inches away Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled Peppers if you happen to have somebody In the room with you and you were

Running two of these microphones I'm Going to just do a little bit from the Side and from the rear just so you can Get a sense of how much bleed you might Get here's what I sound like from Approximately one foot away from the Side of the microphone here's what I Sound like from approximately two feet Away from the side of the microphone Here's what I sound like from Approximately a foot away from the back Of the microphone and here's what I Sound like from approximately two feet Away from the back of the microphone now What if I was banging on the keyboard Over here and typing away what would Enter into the microphone as I'm Reaching the desired output level in OBS Right now so there'll be no boosting in Post-production so let's see how much of The keyboard gets picked up So I'm gonna pretend like I'm writing Notes while I'm podcasting and here's What you would pick up in the background Now if I were to bump the desk I've got The blue compass Boom arm no shock mount Here's what you'd get Now I have the microphone set up in Stand mode and here's how it sounds Sitting on the desk I have heard other YouTubers talk about when you touch the Mic in any way so if you're Kind of touching the Yoke or the body

As a lot of lower budget microphones it Will pick up some extra noise when You're doing that You know what's coming next the industry Standard the sure sm7b comparison to the Mayonno DD 100. this is the pd-100 and Here's how it sounds Now I'm on the Shure sm7b and here's how It sounds in comparison to the mayona Pd100 Is there 355 dollars worth of a difference to you Chime in the comments down below now I'm Going to switch back to the pd100 now I'm back on the pd100 and here's how it Sounds in comparison if you wanted to Put a windscreen on the device The windscreen for the zoom zdm1 also One that would fit the rode pod mic Easily fits this microphone so then with The windscreen in place here's how it Sounds it doesn't seem like you really Need a windscreen on it but if you want To get closer to the mic and be a little More Reckless with your plosive maybe You want to have a windscreen on there But it doesn't seem like you really need One now I'm going to switch from the Road Caster Duo to a budget audio Interface that my audience seems to love The Behringer um2 now I'm on the Behringer Um2 audio interface with the PD 100 Here's how it sounds

I've tried to match the gain as close as I possibly could this is the difference Between using the pd100 with the road Caster Duo and the Behringer um2 which Retails roughly 459 US Dollars new and I've seen it as low as 25 Used on eBay now I'm going to switch Back to the road Caster dual for my Final thoughts well I'm back after doing Some editing and listening back to the Test and I'm here to deliver my final Thoughts on the miono pd100 while build Wise the microphone might not be as Hefty as some of the other mics in this Category like the Zoom zvm1 and such I Find the build quality to be pretty Solid especially giving extra credit to This super sturdy Grill I also think it Looks good on camera as well the half Yoke integrating into a desk stand is a Really cool feature there's good heft to The stand and I think it would work just Fine if you were in an environment that Isn't cluttered like my desk is and let Me just say At this price point to my ears the sound Quality is outstanding in all honesty my Jaw dropped when I listened back to this Microphone from the second I plugged This microphone in and was monitoring The sound coming out of it I was Impressed I also think the microphone Fared well with plosives and off axis And rear rejection if you forced me to

Nitpick anything about this microphone The only thing I can come up with would Be I wish the arm Could be mounted on the other side like The Elgato wave you move the arm from This side to this side and put the cap On the side you're not using because I Have my boom arm on this side of the Table I would like this little half yoke To be on this side towards the backdrop But that's me being extremely nitpicky Trying to find something that I dislike About this microphone Now I'm always late to the party on These type of microphones but you know Who isn't bark from ops gear mics he is The one that really let me know about This mic and some other mics that are Coming in the future and he is first to The party on budget microphones so if You're not subscribed to him already Subscribe to obscure mics bark and I Have our upcoming challenge video coming Up very soon where we attempted to Select the best setup for under 100 I Think you're gonna enjoy those videos When they come out he's going to do one For his channel I'm gonna do one right Here on my channel thank you again to Mayono for sending this microphone out And it lives up to all the hype I've Heard from other YouTube reviewers but I Had to hear it for myself and I'll tell You what it is legit the mayonno pd100 a

Very very good entry in the budget Microphone category in the future I'll Run this microphone against other budget Microphones in its class just to see how It performs thank you
