I Bought My Dream Microphone

Hang here with my thoughts on Le's LCT 540s the 540s retails for $699 however at the time of this Recording there's a special deal going On where you can get it for $429 Link in the description when you Buy the 540s here's what's included a Rock solid carrying case a shock mount Pop filter foam wind screen a carry bag A 3/8 in to 5/8 in adapter a rubber Wristband a velcro strap documentation And stickers when it comes to the build Quality of the 540s the microphone has a Diecast body and weighs in at 13.1 o the Buttons themselves are quiet but Responsive with one caveat that I'll get To in the cons the L logo is a status Indicator when it's illuminated white It's in standard operation mode when It's flashing red clipping has occurred If it's not illuminated the key lock is Active illuminated red automatic Attenuation is active and if it's Flashing red white or green and white Clipping history is active the button to The left is a low cut indicator you can Roll off at 80 htz or 160 HZ the middle Button functions as a key lock if you Hold that that center button down for 2 Seconds you activate key lock Mode all the buttons are locked until You press any other button for two Seconds again and the right button is The pre- attenuation indicator so if you

Press that you can use that to help you Avoid clipping by Rolling off 6 DB and 12 DB you can also activate automatic Attenuation by holding that right button Down for more than 2 seconds until the Indicator turns red and in this mode the Microphone adjusts the attenuation Setting automatically when clipping now This adjustment produces an audible Sound therefore this feature is intended To be used for recording test runs and Not while you're doing an actual Recording that you're trying to use on The specs front the LCT 540s is a Cardioid condenser microphone requiring 40 8 Vols phantom power it has a Frequency response of 20 HZ to 20 khz a Max SPL of 136 DB a sensitivity of minus 28 dbv and an astonishing self noise of Just 4 DB a weighted this has been one Of my dream microphones it's been on my Wish list for approximately four years And I finally pulled the trigger on it Because I got an excellent deal on it so I've wanted this microphone for a a long Long time all right the 80 HZ rolloff Has been engaged and this is what it Would sound like cutting off 80 HZ and Below now I am going to engage the 160 Htz rollof all right now I've rolled off 160 htz and this is what it sounds like I can definitely tell it's much thinner Now after engaging that so I'm going to Get it back to its normal state back in

Its normal State you can hear the Difference in tonality when that's Engaged so let's test Plosives about 6 in away Peter Piper Picked a pck a pickle peppers now I'm Going to lean in about 3 in away Peter Piper picked a peck of pickle peppers This is what you'd pick up if I started To type frantically on the Keyboard now if I was trying to be a Little more stealthy about it If someone were in the same room as you And they were off to your side a good Two feet here's what it would sound like All right I'm about two feet to the left Of the microphone and this is the bleed You pick up while the mic is open in the Same room as your Co-host now I'm approximately two feet Behind the microphone talking directly In the back of it and this is the bed You Pi up if someone were in the same Room as you across the desk from me when It comes to Pros the L LCT 540s has an Elite build another Pro is the Microphone is extremely easy to drive Especially compared to some of the Budget condenser microphones I've Purchased in the past that require a lot More gain than this one does another Pro Are the attenuation and low cut buttons On the microphone as well as the key Lock button another Pro is the high Max SPL another Pro and the most important

Pro is I think the sound profile is Nearly Flawless another Pro you do get a Lot of extras when you purchase this Including That Rock Solid case that Comes with it and lastly the self noise Being Just 4 DB a weighted is just about Unheard of while there's lots of There are a few cons most notably when You press the buttons while in use you Do get some sort of audible click that Will go into your recording another con With as Elite of a build quality as this Is the shock mount seems to be mostly Plastic and leaves a little bit to be Desired and the last con that I have is The same con I typically have for these L microphones I kind of wish there was Just a little more of a gap in between The pop filter and the grill just in Case you accidentally create plosives it Would give it just a little more space To dissipate that wind burst honestly I Wasn't even expecting the added Functionality with the buttons on the Front of the microphone that just sets This over the top like I said earlier I Think the sound profile on my particular Voice is almost Flawless and I would buy The L LCT 540 for any price under $1,000 I think it would be well worth it That is my honest take on that it's been On my wish list forever I've wanted this Microphone and I think you could justify The price being higher than $6.99 I'm

Glad it's not but at the $429 at the time of this recording Anyway price point it's just an absolute No brainer for me and that's why I have It right now in my home studio this Microphone is the Crown Jewel an Excellent job by L and I am very glad I Finally got to try this microphone out This has been fully recorded with no Compression no processing whatsoever in Fact Let me throw just a little bit on Now I've added the depth pret on the Roadter video so you're able to get a Little taste of what it would sound like With processing on I have the depth Processing on the roadter video now I've Switched over to the sparkle profile on The roadter video I don't tend to like This one on any microphone as much as I Do depth and punch so let's switch over To punch now I have the punch profile Added to this microphone and this is What it sounds like I tend to go back And forth between punch and depth on Which one I prefer this is what it Sounds like with the depth setting on I I tend to lean to this one more Sometimes and then other times the punch One Last Time on punch here's the punch Preset on the roadter video how do you Like this sound now back off again and This is the flat sound coming from the Roadter video what do you think of the LD LCT 540s I'd love to hear your
